Job Description
Active Learning Mentoring Coordinator (Non-Tenured FT Faculty)
The University of Wyoming Top-Tier Science Initiative is seeking a full-time Coordinator for the Learning Actively Mentoring Program. LAMP is a comprehensive, sustained mentoring and professional development program with an emphasis on how to best adopt active learning strategies in large-scale active learning classrooms at UW. This is an Academic Professional Lecturer, extended-term track, full-time, 12-month, benefited position.

The Learning Actively Mentoring Program Coordinator will be responsible for duties including:

- Day to day administration of the Learning Actively Mentoring Program.
- Planning and execution of the annual Science Initiative Summer Institute (SI2), recruitment of LAMP faculty fellows, and organization and delivery of SI2 workshops and programs during the academic year.
- Recruitment, as needed, of LAMP undergraduate Learning Assistants from the College of Education.
- Oversight of a database available to UW faculty for active learning classroom modules, especially for large-scale active learning (i.e., 50 to 200 enrollments), and providing training opportunities for faculty how to properly use them.
- Interfacing with Wyoming community college faculty to spread the use of active learning best-practices.
- Work with the SI Program Coordinator to: insure that LAMP sponsored activities are fiscally sound and managed; collect program assessment data and data for metric-reporting; develop program publicity and ensure that web site content is kept current for LAMP including the active learning module database.
- Teaching duties to include two large freshman or sophomore level class in a biological or physical sciences.
- Mentoring of LAMP undergraduate learning assistant students, and LAMP graduate students, and faculty in active-learning best practices.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
- MS in a biological or physical sciences field
- At least 5 years of teaching experience at a university level
- Experience with active learning pedagogies and methods


Desired Qualifications:
- Evidence of extensive high-quality undergraduate teaching, especially at the freshman and sophomore levels
- Knowledge of, and experience in the use of large-scale (lecture course of 20-200 students) active-learning best practices
- Interest in, and evidence of success in mentoring faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate learning assistants in large-scale active learning best practices
