About the Team

Our Real Estate team takes on the task of finding and managing over 1,600 stores, DCs, and offices. Their scope is pretty big, as we are a multi-national retailer with over 1,600 leased stores, offices, and distribution centers in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Hong Kong.  The team also supports new store growth through market analysis and research with the industry’s best data resources and analytical tools.  In addition to supporting the stores, we work directly with the Real Estate Legal, Facilities, New Store Construction, and Finance teams.


About the Location

Hybrid Position:

This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs.

 


About the Job

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for all design aspects of PetSmart new store, remodel and refresh projects by managing and coordinating designs with cross functional teams. This position requires a strong leader with exceptional design and multi-tasking skills and is an essential part of PetSmart as the fixture floor plans are the foundation for the layouts of our retail stores.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design individual project fixture plans or drawing sets for new store, remodel and refresh projects by executing design solutions that require a detailed understanding of specific site and building requirements, PetSmart’s interior layout, Merchandising requirements and shell and tenant improvement building specifications.
  • Consult with Cross Functional teams to ensure alignment of preliminary project fixture plans or design drawings by coordinating internal reviews with development, construction, F&E, merchandising, store design and operations teams prior to final approval.  
  • Read and interpret construction documents (Architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural)

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years as a retail/ Grocery Store Designer
  • Management and Coordination of Fixture Floor Plans and construction documents with internal cross functional teams as well as external architectural, engineering and construction consultants

TECHNICAL SKILLS 

  • 3+ years AutoCAD experience
  • General knowledge of construction means and methods. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • NCIDQ preferred, but not required.
  • AIT (Architect in Training) preferred, but not required.
  • AIA preferred, but not required.
