Senior Application Engineer
GDIT is seeking a motivated Senior Application Engineer to support and maintain mission-critical business applications and integrations across enterprise systems; ensuring operational stability, performance, and security. This position combines application support, integration development, and platform management across an enterprise ecosystem. The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, ensuring seamless data exchange and process automation. This position requires a strong understanding of business processes, data flows, and data transformations, and be capable of troubleshooting complex issues in production environments. The role also ensures adherence to security, compliance, and data governance standards while driving continuous improvement and modernization of business applications and integrations. MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACTProvide support for business-critical applications and integrations operationsEnsure high availability, performance, and reliability of applications, integrations and enterprise systemsMonitor system health, job execution, data flows, and respond to alertsPartner with functional teams to troubleshoot process issuesTroubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixesConfigure and monitor batch jobs, file schedules, and dependenciesTranslate business requirements into technical solutionsDesign, develop and maintain integrations using file-based methods or APIsCreate and maintain data mappings between systemsBuild scalable, reusable integration components that optimize workflowsEnsure data accuracy, transformation logic, and validation rulesLead testing, deployments, and migrationsCoordinate with vendors and cross-functional teamsMaintain design and operations documentationIdentify and support continuous process improvement including AI adoptionDeliver excellent customer service to business users WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Senior Applications Engineer must have:Education: Bachelor's degreeExperience: 5+ years minimum supporting business critical applications, integrations, or enterprise systemsExperience specifically working with file-based integrations (EFT/MFT), integration platforms (iPaaS, middleware), or API/web servicesHands-on experience supporting enterprise business applications, complex process flows and integrationsStrong understanding of enterprise system architecture, data structures, and integration patternsAbility to bridge technical implementation and business processesExperience supporting on-prem or cloud native file transfer and integration platformsStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsHands-on experience supporting batch jobs, scheduled processes, and data feedsExperience developing and supporting integrations for critical enterprise applicationsExperience modernizing legacy integrations moving toward APIs/event-driven modelsStrong understanding of incident, problem, and change management processesExperience with ITSM ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.)Ability to work with business users, vendors, and internal technical teamsStrong documentation, communication, and customer service skillsAbility to participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support when requiredStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent customer service and issue resolution skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholdersPreferred: Experience supporting core business processes across Finance (accounting, planning, treasury, tax) and HR (employee lifecycle); Proven ability to adapt to new tools and technologiesLocation: remote with less than 10% travelGDIT IS YOUR PLACEAt GDIT, the mission is our purpose, and our people are at the center of everything we do.
