It is an industrial maintenance apprentice role involving machine setup, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.<h2></h2><h2><span class="emphasis-3">Position</span></h2>Maintenance Technician Appliance Park (FAME)<h2></h2><h2><span class="emphasis-3">Location</span></h2>USA, Louisville, KY<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h2><span class="emphasis-3">How You'll Create Possibilities</span></h2><ul><li>Trainees will be assigned to a mentor.</li><li>Trainees will work 3 days per week and attend school 2 days per week (1st shift). They are expected to work during school breaks and school inclement weather days.</li><li>Trainees will be required to take all appropriate safety training as determined by the company and the mentor.</li><li>Trainees will be offered overtime after the full list has been offered across all 3 shifts.</li><li>Trainees will not be used as Journeymen or Replacement Operators.</li><li>Trainees will be on probation during the 2-year program.</li><li>Trainees may pursue the Maintenance Apprenticeship Program beginning at MA3 level (see chart below) after completion of the KY FAME program, pending management approval.</li><li>Trainees are required to participate in rotational evaluations during the 2-year program and are required to successfully complete each core AMT technical course with a C grade or higher to remain in the KY FAME program.</li><li>Trainees who fail to meet the academic requirements to graduate from the 2-year program within the allotted 5 semesters will be terminated from the program. They may be offered employment in an hourly role per the needs of GE Appliances. Trainees who are not considered hirable or who refuse this role will be terminated from the company and will be required to repay any tuition reimbursement funds per the Retention Agreement.</li><li>Trainees who fail to meet performance, attendance, or ethics expectations on the job will be terminated from the program. They may be offered an hourly role per the needs of GE Appliances. Trainees who do not qualify for hire or who refuse the offered role will be terminated from the company and will be required to repay any tuition reimbursement funds per the Retention Agreement.</li></ul><p><b>Under Journeyman Supervision, Apprentices will:</b></p><ul><li>Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and improve hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment</li><li>Diagnose and troubleshoot VFD’s and Servo Drives, setting and adjusting parameters and replacement of such devices</li><li>Perform preventive maintenance</li><li>Complete shop records and use reporting systems following established procedures</li><li>Provide quick response to maintenance requests and calls from maintenance leadership and manufacturing operations teams</li><li>Follow safe work methods and procedures at all times to avoid injury to self and co-workers or damage to company property, including use of all required personal protective equipment, following safety precautions (e.g. LOTO), ensuring machine guards, etc.</li><li>Perform welding and plumbing as needed</li><li>Follow proper housekeeping standards to ensure clean and organized maintenance work areas</li><li>Adhere to all company policies and practices</li><li>The factories are not climate controlled – conditions can be hot or cold.</li><li>Operate motorized equipment, including but not limited to scissor lifts, JLGs, fork trucks, etc.</li><li>Use a wide range of powered tools and hand tools and vibratory tools/equipment.</li><li>Physical demands of the position include: Frequently handling various parts and/or equipment; frequently standing, walking, reaching at shoulder and waist level, bending, pushing/pulling, grasping, pinching, using fine motor dexterity, and neck flexion; occasionally sitting, reaching overhead, reaching at knee and floor level, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders/stairs, pivoting, twisting, neck extension and rotation, shoulder circumduction, and lying supine. Handling and lifting parts/equipment – lifting minimum 86 lbs., carrying 62 lbs., and pushing/pulling 75 lbf.</li><li>Ability to work with parts/equipment which may be hot, cold, and/or wet.</li><li>Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.</li><li>Ability to work at heights.</li></ul><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h2><span class="emphasis-3">What You'll Bring to Our Team</span></h2><p><b><span>Qualifications/Requirements:</span></b></p><ul><li><span>Must have a high school diploma, GED or GED equivalent</span></li><li><span>Must be enrolled in the KY FAME program.</span></li><li><span>Minimum 18 years of age</span></li><li><span>Must possess a valid Driver's License</span></li><li><span>Good work ethic and a positive attitude; willingness to learn new ways and meet expectations of the various maintenance assignments</span></li><li><span>Dependability; demonstrate and maintain good attendance and punctuality</span></li><li><span>Mechanical aptitude – ability to understand basic mechanical concepts and relationships</span></li><li><span>Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions in English</span></li><li><span>Ability to work in a loud/noisy environment</span></li><li><span>Ability to change shifts and work overtime and weekends, as required</span></li><li><span>Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation, including, but not limited to: Frequently handling various parts and/or equipment; frequently standing, walking, reaching at shoulder and waist level, bending, pushing/pulling, grasping, pinching, using fine motor dexterity, and neck flexion; occasionally sitting, reaching overhead, reaching at knee and floor level, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders/stairs, pivoting, twisting, neck extension and rotation, shoulder circumduction, and lying supine.
